How it came to be... "Each writer, uniquely qualified, wrote about their concerns, remembered events of the past and contemplated the future. Mirroring in their writing is the pulse of humanity. For years they encouraged each other to write pieces of prose in other genres, different than in their comfort zone. So they boldly dipped their pens into the fluidity of poetry, and chiseled out workshop pieces as well. "Twice a month members met to be critiqued by fellow writers. Someone came up with the idea to have a permanent collection of these works, which led to the thought of publishing a booklet. After some gentle prodding, the members were convinced to submit pieces, to re-edit them, select ( by anonymous ballots), and agree on works to be printed. After more than a year, the entire work, together with money of prepaid issues, was ready for the printer. The talent displayed by the members of the Skagit Valley Writers League had to be brought to light." Erika Henze-Gurlitt "Funny, poignant, intriguing, and thought-provoking pieces. It's a good read."
